Dragon Crest Mountain

Dragon Crest — Khao Ngon Nak — is the standout hike near Ao Nang: a steep 3.7km climb through jungle to a limestone spur that juts out over the coast, the islands and the plains like the back of a dragon. The exposed rock at the top is the money shot, with the sea and karsts spread out below. Reckon on two to three hours return and a proper sweat; start at dawn for the light and to beat the heat. Free and well-marked. Water and grippy shoes are non-negotiable.
